Serving in the Lord's Way

Serving in the Lord’s Way: As we finish out the Christmas Holiday, we remind ourselves of the gifts our God has given to all his children.  Christmas is the commemoration of Heavenly Father’s gift to mankind of his only begotten son.  Christ would then sacrifice himself 33 years later to redeem all mankind from death and sin.  This was all part of a plan laid out in the beginning.  We rejoiced at the great plan of salvation where the only person ever to live upon the earth who was perfect in all ways would take upon him all our sins.  There was no one else that could do it.  So, we rejoice that Jesus Christ was willing to suffer and lay down his life for all of us. In small, imperfect ways, these past two weeks we have tried to serve others as a small token of gratitude for the sacrifice of our Savior.  We can never completely repay this debt, as Christ told his disciples “The things which are impossible for me...

Come Unto Christ

Come Unto Christ We are feeling the spirit of Christ from the missionaries and others we are associated with. As we plan our schedule after Sunday lessons and our daily routine of scripture study, we feel the peace the gospel gives to all. Christmas is a special time of year with celebrations and gift giving.     We were in Tokyo to attend a special Senior Missionary Family Home Evening     (FHE) evening with other Senior Missionaries who serve in a wide variety of missionary assignments such as Mission Leader Support, Area and Mission Office Support, and Military Relations. We all work together to support and spread the gospel of Jesus Christ. Not only was the food and games great, but we were also taught about famous artwork of Christ and the messages they held.  There was a group picture taken of us. We saw three other Military Relation Missionary (MRM) pairs there.  At Naval Air Facility Atsugi (NAFA) we have had more opportunities to serve others....

Preparation and Beginnings in Japan   Part 1 – Pre-Mission   This is our first blog post for our mission in Japan.  We are serving in the Tokyo South Mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints as Military Relations Missionaries (MRM).  In this calling we are tasked with reaching out to church members living in the area and have a connection to the US military.  We may assist members who are stationed here as single member of the military, or families who may need assistance.  We are specifically assigned to Naval Air Facility (NAF) Atsugi. We were called in June, with a report date of 4 November. That is a short amount of time for a Senior Couple to sort out arrangements with the house and other affairs at home, while also packing.  It was a little more challenging as we needed to close Donna’s Optometry Practice.     But as we put our faith in the Lord, and our efforts focused on what needs to be done, we we...
